Norbert George Lembke, Monona, Iowa, August 12, 2019

Norbert George Lembke, 92, of Monona, Iowa died Monday, August 12, 2019 at his home in Monona, Iowa.  Norbert was born May 6, 1927 to Erwin and Mildred (Sass) Lembke in Monona Township, Iowa.  He was baptized on June 22, 1927 by Rev. Daugs and confirmed in 1941 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa. He graduated from Monona High School and attended one year of College.

Norbert was united in marriage with Eileen Schrader on October 16, 1951 at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa. Five children were born to this union. Norbert worked a few years for the Monona Coop and also farmed. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and listening and dancing to Polka Music. He loved spending time with his family.

Norbert is survived by his wife, Eileen Lembke of Monona, Iowa; his children, Diane (Steve) Popelka of Clutier, Alan Lembke of Waukon, Linda (Wayne) Hanson of Decorah, Larry (Bonnie) Lembke of Postville and Cheryl (Dave) Brandt of Waukon; fourteen grandchildren, Cheri, Beth, Tim, Matt, Lisa, Robert, Kristi, Scott, Curtis, Dana, Evan, Craig, Jen and Jason; thirteen great-grandchildren, Zak, Joey, Michael, Shawn, Colton, Kayla, Kyler, Kaylee, Alyssa, Penny, Ellie, Kylie and Sawyer; one brother, Valdean (Lois) Lembke of Iowa City; and sister-in-law, Marjorie Schrader of Monona.

Norbert was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Mildred Lembke; granddaughter, Renee; one sibling in infancy; and a brother-in-law, Ron Schrader.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Friday, August 16, 2019 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Monona, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Saturday.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Faith Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa with Rev. Mel Harris as the officiant.

Burial will follow at Monona Cemetery, Monona, Iowa.
