William Loren Egeland, 77, of Postville, Iowa died Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society, Postville, Iowa. William was born on September 1, 1941 to Jens and Margaret (Bevan) Egeland in Wallingford, Emmet County. He was baptized on October 26, 1941 at Wallingford Lutheran Church. Bill graduated high school from Estherville in 1959 and attended two years of College in Estherville.
Bill was united in marriage with Judy Zweibohmer on June 4, 1966 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, Iowa. Together they farmed for four years in the Ossian area. He then starts working for Postville Community School as a maintenance man. Bill was employed there for thirty years until his retirement. He then went to work for Monona Wire for three years. Bill loved being with family and helping Judy in the garden. He also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and squirrels.
Bill is survived by his wife, Judy Egeland of Postville, Iowa; his children, William Loren, Jr. of Waukon, Theresa (James) Lang of McGregor, Iowa, Larry Egeland of Decorah, Iowa and Chad Egeland of Waukon, Iowa; three grandchildren, Catheryn Lang (Chris Udelhoven), Robert William Lang and Nolin James Lang; siblings, Don Egeland of Ossian, Iowa, David (Jeanne) Egeland of Estherville, Iowa, Mary Ellen Inbody of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Betty (Jerry) Schichtl of Estherville, Iowa and Carolyn (Rich) Peterson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Jens and Margaret Egeland; brothers, Richard, Jim, Sam, Jon and Michael; and sisters, Phyllis Palmer and Ruth Egeland.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Scripture Service on Friday, August 23, 2019 at Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Postville, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before Mass at the church on Saturday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, Postville, Iowa with Rev. Nils de Jesus Hernandez as the celebrant.
Inurnment will follow at Postville Cemetery, Postville, Iowa.
