Patricia Mae Dickens, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin formerly of McGregor, Iowa, September 28, 2019

Patricia Mae Dickens, 70, of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin formerly of McGregor, Iowa passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 28, 2019 following a brief illness. She was born on June 16, 1949 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Frankie and Bernice (Cavanaugh) Harry.

On December 12, 1967, Patricia was united in marriage with Harvey LeRoy Dickens in Manchester, Iowa. They moved to the Giard, Iowa area, where Pat worked for twenty-seven years as a cook at White Springs Supper Club and raised their family there. Later, after Harvey’s death on May 12, 1997, she moved to Prairie du Chien, where she worked as a Resident Caregiver at the Crossing Rivers Walter Schmidt Assisted Living Center for eighteen years. Pat has always been known for her kind loving heart and devotion to family. She touched the lives of many with her love for caregiving, cooking and baking and those around her knew that there would always be an abundance of hugs and kisses whenever she was nearby. Pat found Joy in taking care of others, treating them as family and always doing so with a smile. It was her passion for cooking that later led her to Huckleberry’s Restaurant, where she worked as a prep cook for the last twelve years. In her spare time, Pat’s enthusiasm for sports involved cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, The Chicago Cubs and the Milwaukee Bucks while rarely missing a game. Her laughter and her smile were a gift that she often shared with those around her.

Pat is survived by her three children, Terry (Darcy) Dickens of Monona, Iowa, Tracy (Wade) Hebel and Tammy (Jeff) DuCharme, both of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; step-daughter, Sue (John) Dorszynski of Greendale, Wisconsin; ten grandchildren, Ciara (Matt) Blake, Samantha Dickens (Justin Baxa), Tony (Mara) Dickens, Ronnie Hebel (Jenna Jones), Kelsey Hebel, Laura DuCharme, Clayton Ducharme, Kylie Hebel, Melissa Dickens and Michele (Wes) Merk; seven great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Jase and Lila Mae Blake, Skyler Dickens, Mason Mikolajczak, Wyatt and Miles Merk; four sisters, Shirley “Anne” Welsh of Charles City, Iowa, Judy Blockhaus of West Union, Iowa, Joyce Harry of Monona, Iowa and Goldie Kelley of Tipton, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband of nearly thirty years, Harvey Dickens; her parents, Frankie and Bernice Harry; and two brothers, Donald Harry and Frank Harry Jr.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Living Faith United Methodist Parish in Giard, Iowa with Rev. Deb Parkison as the officiant.

There will a Visitation before services from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the church on Saturday.

Inurnment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in McGregor, Iowa.

A luncheon will be held following burial at Huckleberry’s Restaurant, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
