Gary Russell Passmore, Monona, Iowa, November 20, 2019

Gary Russell Passmore, 68, of Monona, Iowa died Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Crossing Rivers Health Systems in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.  Gary was born on June 20, 1951 to Walter and Velma (Woomer) Passmore in Belmond, Iowa. He graduated from Britt High School and earned his B.S. degree at Upper Iowa University.

Gary was united in marriage with Fran (Pierson) Goltz on September 7, 1985 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa.  Gary was the Director of Member Services at REC Allamakee-Clayton Coop. He also worked in Recruitment at Upper Iowa University.

Gary is survived by his wife, Fran Passmore of Monona, Iowa; four children, Jason (Judy) Passmore of Cresco, Iowa, Andrea (Blaine) Benzing of Caledonia, Minnesota, Briana (Brian) Marston of West Burlington, Iowa and Brittany (Jared) Scanlon of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Drew (Lindsay) Zahasky, Isaiah Passmore, Lakin Benzing, Jenna Benzing, Zach Larson, Tyler (Cassidy) Larson, Cael Brunner, Makinzie Brunner and Maddux Marston; five great-grandchildren, Gracelyn Zahasky, Cooper Zahasky, Hayden Zahasky, Sienna Zahasky and Drake Larson; one sister, Ann Kerley of Chicago, Illinois; and two brothers, Chuck (Irene) Passmore of Rialto, California and Lyle (Diane) Passmore of Minnesota Lake, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Velma Passmore.

Gary was an active member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa.  He served on the Upper Iowa Mississippi Gaming Commission and was presently on the Clayton County Energy District Board and the Planning and Zoning Board for the City of Monona, Iowa.

His interests included Iowa Hawkeye sports, especially football and wrestling.  He enjoyed attending grandchildren’s extracurricular activities, he loved to play golf and travel with family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 2-6 pm on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Monona, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Monday.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, November 25, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa with Rev. Erika Kielstrup as the officiant.

Burial will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church and The Monona Butterfly Garden and Trails.
