Darwyn Scheffert, Monona, Iowa, December 29, 2019

Darwyn Scheffert, 52, of Monona, Iowa died Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. Darwyn Burdette was born September 23, 1967 to Burdette and Doris (Martie) Scheffert in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Darwyn was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church. He graduated from MFL High School in 1986. Darwyn continued his education at Hawkeye Community College, graduating in 1988 with a degree in Marketing Management.

In the summer of 1987, Darwyn worked on Mackinac Island. Darwyn did have the pleasure of returning there this year. Darwyn became employed with Kinney Shoe Store in 1988 in Norfolk, Nebraska. He was there one year and then transferred to Yankton, South Dakota, where he worked for one year. In 1989, Darwyn decided on a career change and moved to Anita, Iowa and worked at Adair Happy Chef. He worked there for six years before deciding to move back to Monona to live with and take care of his grandmother. Darwyn worked at CVG in Monona for nearly 25 years. He also worked at M’s Machine, Backwoods Bar and Grill, and Advanced Data Corporation.

Darwyn loved his cats, Peanut, Bert, Ernie, Cubbie and Paw Paws. He also loved his dog, Willow. Darwyn enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was always willing to help anyone in need. Darwyn was often considered the life of the party. He also liked shopping and going tubing.

Darwyn is survived by his father and step-mother, Burdette and Marol Scheffert of Ryan, Oklahoma; sisters, Doreen (Scott) Doerring of Monona, Iowa and Becky (Tim) Kruse of Monona, Iowa; half-brother, Brian (Steve) Scheffert-Davidson of Maxwell, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Danyelle Kruse, Bradley, Britanni Doerring (Josh Weatherly); and half-nieces and nephews Ethan, Jade, Adalyn, Alexander, Delilah, and Maya Scheffert.

Darwyn was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Martie Sickels; and his grandparents, Donna and Arnold Martie and Yvo and Vivian Scheffert.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, January 3, 2020 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa with a visitation two hours before from 9:00 am – 11:00 am at the church on Friday. Rev. Hillary Burns-Kite will be the Officiant.

Burial will be held at a later date.
