Roger LeRoy Frederick Kuhse, Postville, Iowa, December 4, 2019

 Roger LeRoy Frederick Kuhse, 86, Postville, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at Garden View Assisted Living, Monona, Iowa. Roger was born October 18, 1933 to Victor and Evelyn (Koth) Kuhse in Postville, Iowa. He was baptized on November 26, 1933 at St. Paul Lutheran Church by Rev. R.B. Garten and confirmed on March 30, 1947 at St. Paul Lutheran Church by Rev. F. R. Ludwig. Roger attended grade school at the Brick School, Oak Hill School, Castalia and Springfield School and graduated from Postville High School in 1952. He joined and served in the United States Army from June 1953 to May 1955, serving one year in Korea and six months in Japan.

Roger was united in marriage with Janet Alice Welper on September 15, 1956 at Zion Reformed Church in Waukon, Iowa with Rev. W.E. Odenbach as the officiant. Together they lived on a farm south of Postville until October 2015. Roger enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and especially snowmobiling. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Northeast Iowa Trail Blazers, Clayton County Snowbirds and the American Legion of Postville.

Roger was preceded in death by wife Janet; parents, Victor and Evelyn Kuhse; twin daughters, June and Joan; son, Joel; Janet’s parents, Alfred and Ruth Welper; brothers, Dale and Clifford; brothers-in-law, Harris Evans, Bill Ritter, and Joe Schrabeck ; and sisters-in-law, Judy Ann Kuhse, Judie Kuhse, and Bernice Schrabeck

Roger is survived by his children, Kevin(Toni), Stoughton, WI, Todd (Vicki), Covington, KY, Kelly (Debra) Stoddard, WI , Holly, Bellevue, IA and daughter-in-law Mary Kuhse, Camas Valley, Ore; twelve grandchildren,  Amber, Krystle, Jessica, Billy, Malachi, Ezekiel, Ora de la Che, Jennifer, Sara, Jacob, Jeffrey and Joshua; Seven great-grandchildren, Sierra, Tanner, Jaime, Dominic, Marshall, Isla, and Hailey; one brother, Donald, Postville;  and three sisters-in-law, Joyce Kuhse, Postville, Lois Evans, Waukon, and Arlene Ritter, Prairie du Chien, WI; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2019, from 3-6pm at the Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Monona, Iowa. Visitation will also be held one hour before services at the church on Monday.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 9, 2019, at 10:30 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa, with the Rev. Lynn Noel officiating.

Burial will follow in the Postville Cemetery, Postville, Iowa, with military rites.
