Harold Junior Krambeer, Farmersburg, Iowa, February 11, 2020

Harold Junior Krambeer, 77, of Farmersburg, Iowa died Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at his home in Farmersburg, Iowa.  Harold was born November 15, 1942, in Farmersburg, Iowa, the fourth child of Harold John Krambeer and Leona Fascher Krambeer. He was baptized December 13, 1942, at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg and confirmed there on March 25, 1956. He graduated from Monona Farmersburg Community High School in 1960 and served his country in the United States Air Force as a photo interpretation specialist during the Vietnam War.

On December 4, 1965, Harold married Deanna Schlitter. One child, Ross, was born to this union. He worked for a number of years installing and repairing rural and domestic water systems for Duane Lubbers. He found this work his most rewarding. He finished his working career as Manager of the Swiss Valley Farms Packaging Plant at St. Olaf, Iowa.

Harold served on the city council of Farmersburg and St. Olaf and was involved in the installation of wastewater treatment systems in each town. He was a member of the Iowa Tree Farm System and Iowa Woodland Owners. He belonged to the St. Olaf American Legion. He was a founding member of the group Friends of the Sherman Swift Tower. He was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church and spent many hours volunteering there.

He enjoyed being with his family and friends and loved a good party. He was a creative wood worker and made one of a kind pieces of furniture from wood he sawed with his sawmill. He always had a garden and made many kinds of wine which he shared with friends.

Harold loved the outdoors and spent many happy hours in the woods enjoying nature, planting trees, observing wildlife and hunting small game. He shared this love of nature with his grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Time spent fishing, especially at Sny MaGill and with friends at other Mississippi River spots was all time well spent. He strongly believed in the conservation of our natural world.

.He is survived by his wife, Deanna; his son, Ross and his wife Melanie; his grandchildren, Adam Hammond and his wife, Mandy and their daughters, Kyrra and Kassidy; grandson, Austin; granddaughter, Alivia Henkel and her husband, Austin; sisters-in- law, Marie Krambeer and Carol Chas; special nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Leona Krambeer; siblings, L Dean and his wife, Betty; brother, Ray; sister, Betty and her husband Garth; mother-in-law and father- in -law, Elmer and Margaret Schlitter; and brother-in-law, Jim Chase

Visitation will be held from 4-7 on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Monona, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Friday.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am on Friday, February 14, 2020 at Norway Lutheran Church, St. Olaf, Iowa with Rev. Marshall Hahn as the officiant.

Burial with Military Rites will follow at United Brethren Cemetery, rural St. Olaf, Iowa.
