Marlys Kathleen Pfeiffer, 91, of McGregor, Iowa died Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society in Waukon, Iowa with her family at her side. Marlys was born on May 8, 1928 in Dubuque, Iowa. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in Dubuque in May of 1946.
Marlys was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald W. Pfeiffer on June 25, 1946 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dubuque. To this union seven children were born. In her spare time, Marlys enjoyed sewing, golfing, traveling and spending lots of time with her family and friends.
Marlys is survived by her five children, Rick (Laura) Pfeiffer of Columbia, Missouri; Kirk (Barb) Pfeiffer of Sterling, Illinois; Kymm (Lee) Hinkel of Waukon, Iowa; Kent (Penny) Pfeiffer of Marquette, Iowa; and Kris (Scott) Dickey of Parker, Colorado; fourteen grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.
Marlys was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Donald W. Pfeiffer, daughter, Lynn Jo; and a son Mark Andrew.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in McGregor, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before Mass at the church on Saturday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at St. Mary Catholic Church in McGregor, Iowa with Rev. Nils de Jesus Hernandez as the celebrant.
Inurnment will be held at a later date in St. Mary Catholic Church Cemetery, McGregor, Iowa.
