Edward “Teddy” Eitsert Devenport, 91, of Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin died Friday, June 5, 2020 at Soldiers Grove Health Services in Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin. Edward was born September 7, 1928 to Edward and Marie (Casperson) Devenport in Mt. Sterling, Wisconsin. He was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Sterling Lutheran Church. Teddy graduated from Gays Mills High School in 1946. He joined and proudly served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953.
Teddy worked for over thirty years as a Water and Sewer Operator in Mt. Sterling, Wisconsin. He also ran a Sawmill in Mt. Sterling, Wisconsin, drove a gravel and lime truck for Kisting and had a business with Doug Helgerson and Mr. Tisthammer, called Ed’s, delivering field lime. Teddy was a member of the Mt. Sterling Lutheran Church. He enjoyed going to auctions and working on antique and small engines. Teddy also enjoyed a little dog, Tinker and spending holidays with family and visiting friends.
Surviving Teddy are five nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marie Devenport; one brother, James H. Devenport; and two sisters, Anna Marie Mohr and Margaret Nederlo.
There will be a Graveside Service held at a later date.
