Ervin Harold Nyberg Sr, 94, of West Union, Iowa died Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society in West Union, Iowa. Ervin was born October, 15, 1925 to Henry and Martha (Larson) Nyberg in Gunder, Iowa. He was close to finishing high school when he got sick with Scarlet Fever. Ervin enlisted in the United States Army when he was eighteen.
Ervin was united in marriage with Ione Odegard on December 29, 1955. He was a “Jack of all trades”. Throughout the years he held several jobs, loved to watch the Chicago Cubs and working on electronics and old school cars. He enjoyed listening to Polka and Country music and was known to be a “speed demon” when driving. Ervin, known as “Uffda Grandpa”, was very close with his great- grandchildren. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage.
Surviving Ervin are his daughter, Susan Fauser; grandchildren, Tanya (Christian) Kapler and Heather (Kenneth) Frese; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Kapler, Austyn Jonas, Vanessa Frese, Craig Frese, Nehemiah Kapler, Aylin Gunningham, Josiah Kapler, Allis Frese, Uriah Kapler and Tayler Kapler; and one sister-in-law, Joanne Odegard.
Preceding Ervin in death were his wife, Ione Nyberg on September 1999; parents, Henry and Martha Nyberg; sons, Ervin “Skipper” Nyberg Jr. and Thomas Nyberg; grandson, Melvin Lightfoot Jr.; and a granddaughter, Danielle Lehman.
Visitation will be held from 1-3 pm on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in West Union, Iowa.

Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Auburn, Iowa.
