James “Jim” Ronald Olson, 88, of Lansing, Iowa died Saturday, September 19, 2020 at his home. James Ronald was born January 9, 1932 to Evelyn and Hulda (Kerstein) Olson in Lansing, Iowa. He graduated from Lansing High School in 1950. Jim joined the United States Army on April 18. 1952 and served until April 2, 1954. He was stationed at an airport in Skullthorp, England. After returning he attended A.I. School Curtis Candy Company.
James was united in marriage with Agatha Goedken on August 28, 1982. Jim enjoyed hunting, trapping, looking for morel mushrooms and ginseng, fishing and bowling. He also enjoyed reading, doing puzzles and playing cribbage and euchre. Jim attended church regularly and was known as a big joker.
Surviving Jim are his wife, Agatha Olson of Lansing, Iowa; his two children, George Olson of Waukon, Iowa and Patty Olson of Lansing, Iowa; grandchildren, Cadan Evanson and Tyler Evenson; his siblings, Rodney Olson of Lansing, Iowa and Anita Sorum of Waukon, Iowa; sister-in-law, Linda Black; and one brother-in-law, Robert Iseli.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Hulda Olson; brothers, Curt Olson, George Olson and Hartley Olson; two sisters, Joyce Olson and Judy Iseli; sister-in-law, Kay Olson; and one brother-in-law, Burnell Sorum.
Visitation will be held from 9-11:00 am on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at United Methodist Church in Lansing, Iowa.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at United Methodist Church in Lansing, Iowa with Rev. Sedar Shako as the officiant.
Burial with Military Rites will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lansing, Iowa.
