Eldean August William Wilke, 86, of Elkader, died Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at the Elkader Care Center. He was born August 22, 1934, in Read Township, rural Elkader, Iowa, the son of Eldo and Marie (Staack) Wilke. He received his education at a country school. Eldean served in the United States Army for two years, stationed at Bitburg, Germany
He was married February 2, 1960, to Ivanelle Boehm at Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkader by Pastor Harold Heupel. To this union, two daughters were born, Linette (James) Langhus and Lisa (David) Pope.
Eldean worked for Grau Logs and Lumber for 40 years; following his retirement, he worked 12 years for the City of Elkader. Eldean enjoyed camping, wood carving, ginseng hunting, and listening to music, and spending time with his family.He has been a resident of the Elkader Care Center for 2 1/2 years.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Ivanelle; two daughters and sons-in-law, four grandchildren: Grant (Amber) Langhus, Lucas (Olivia), Langhus, Melody Pope, and Daye Pope, three great grandchildren, three sisters, and one brother, numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; grandparents; a sister, two brothers-in-law, and a sister-in-law.
Private graveside services at East Side Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elkader is assisting the family.
