Lila Eleanor Schellhammer Weipert, 89, of McGregor, Iowa died Monday, November 30, 2020 at Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa. She was born April 3, 1931 to George and Minnie (Uren) Schellhammer in Lansing, Iowa. Lila attended country school and later earned her G.E.D.

On November 13, 1947, Lila was united in marriage with Francis Weipert in Lansing, Iowa.

Lila was known for baking pies, bread, and cookies. She enjoyed watching the Hawkeyes, Green Bay Packers, and Chicago Cubs. Her favorite pastime was spending time with family.

Surviving Lila are her children, Sharon (Rob) Maricle of Fairbank, Iowa, Jim (Judy) Weipert of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Mary Kay (Bob) Kainz of Pflugerville, Texas, Steve (Sue) Weipert of Marquette, Iowa, Jean (Pat) Cox of Crystal Lake, Illinois and Betty (Rodney) Hillers of Crystal Lake, Illinois; grandchildren, Corey (Kristi) Maricle, Chris (Holle) Maricle, Nikki (Graham) Smurthwaite, Nathan Kainz, Derek (Caitlin) Kainz, Travis (Abbie) Weipert, Danielle (Tarin) Weipert, Jason (Alison) Cox, Emily (George) Yang, Jennifer Cox (fiancé Luke Peters), Lucas Hillers, Lindsey (Josh) Mitchell and Lauren (Toby) Ziemer; sixteen great-grandchildren:  Chase and Ellie Maricle, Rory, Soren and Beck Maricle, Taylor Kainz, Zoe and Ripon Smurthwaite, Brexlie Weipert, Asa Weipert, Freya and Bowie Cox, Oliver Yang, Ariah, Asher and Alaina Mitchell and Baby Kainz due in January.

Lila was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Weipert on Aprill 22, 1997; her parents, George and Minnie Schellhammer; grandson, Brett Kainz; and her siblings, Glen, Morris and Ernest Schellhammer, Marian Reppe, Elsie Meyer, and two in infancy, Iva Jean and Clifford.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to McGregor American Legion and Auxiliary or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

A Private Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in McGregor, Iowa.
