Steven John Goltz, 66, of Monona, Iowa died Monday, December 7, 2020. Steve was born June 11, 1954 to John “Jack” and Angeline (Sheffert) Goltz in Postville, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. Steve graduated from M.F.L. High School where he had a love of playing baseball, playing for all four years of high school. He also attended one year of college at Calmar where studied carpentry.
Steve was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Jane Olds on August 3, 1974 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. Three sons were born to this union. Throughout the years, Steve worked as a self-employed Carpenter and later worked as a Sales Associate at Cabelas. He was an active volunteer with the Turkey River Ducks Unlimited, the M.F.L. Fire Department and White Tails Unlimited for 10 years. Steve loved spending time with his wife, he enjoyed attending sporting events for his grandchildren and he also enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing with his boys and their families. He also wrote a column in the Billboard called Turkey N Stuff for 10 years. His family was the most important thing in his life. He loved the outdoors, woodworking, growing flowers and cutting wood.
Surviving Steve are his wife, Jane Goltz of Monona; three sons, Michael (Jessica) Goltz, Matthew (Amanda) Goltz and Scott (Crystal) Goltz all of Monona, Iowa; six grandchildren, Hunter and Noah Goltz, Ethan and Landon Goltz and Ava and Claire Goltz; one sister, Jan Konarske of Nashville, Tennessee; and mother-in-law, Dolores Olds of Monona, Iowa.
Preceding Steve in death were his parents, Jack and Angeline Goltz; step-mother, Eunice Goltz; a brother, Terry Goltz; and his father-in-law, Richard Olds.
There will be a Public Graveside Service at 1:30 pm on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Monona Cemetery, Monona, Iowa with Deacon Patrick Malanaphy as the officiant.
Due to the Covid- 19 pandemic it is required that everyone attending wear a mask and continue social distancing. If you would like to sit at the cemetery please bring a chair.
