Lamoine Wentz, Monona, Iowa, February 24, 2021

Lamoine Wentz, 85, of Monona, Iowa died Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa. He was born February 8, 1936 to Lawrence and Ilo (Scheffert) Wentz in Elkport, Iowa. Lamoine graduated from Luana High School in 1954 and proudly joined and served in the United States Army from 1956 until 1958.

On June 10, 1960, Lamoine was united in marriage with Bonnie Koehn at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. He ran the Luana Tavern from 1959 to 1970 and acquired the nickname “Tiger”. After selling the tavern, Lamoine began farming and continued farming until he retired in 1999. He also drove his Amish friends of H and L Construction. He enjoyed hunting mushrooms, fishing, playing cards with friends and family and spending time with his family.

Surviving Lamoine are his siblings, Sharron Wubbles of Reston, Virginia, Ron (Lorna) Wentz of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin and John (Robin) Wentz of Bradenton, Florida; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Koehn of Monona, Iowa; nephews, Jerry Wentz, Jim Wentz, Steve Wentz, Derek Wubbles and Jonathon Clark; niece, Lauren Eggert; great nephews and great nieces; other relatives and many friends.

Preceding Lamoine in death were his wife, Bonnie; parents, Lawrence and Ilo Wentz; and two nephews, Jeff and Joel Wentz

The family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers, cards, and phone calls for Lamoine. The family would also like to thank the staff at Great River Care Center and Crossing Rivers Health Hospice for all their care and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the St. John Lutheran Church in Luana or the charity of their choice.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa. There will be a visitation from 9 to 11 am before services at the church on Saturday.

Inurnment with Military Rites will be held at a later date.
