Dale Albert Nienhaus, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, formerly of Festina, Iowa and St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, April 11, 2021

 

Dale Albert Nienhaus, 75, formerly of Festina and St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at his home in Prairie Du Chien on  Sunday, April 11, 2021. Dale was born Dec 8, 1945 the fourth of seven children of Florian and Helen (Bodensteiner) Nienhaus. Dale attended St. Mary’s Grade School in Festina. Dale was baptized and confirmed at OLSD. Dale attended St. Francis de Sales High School in Ossian and was on both the baseball and basketball team. He was proud of being a starting outfielder in de Sales state championship contest as a freshman. After graduating, Dale attended Loras College. He joined the Army National Guard, and was stationed in Fort Ord, California. Dale married his first wife Linda Buelt. Dale and Linda would have three children together: Terry, Steve, and Chris Nienhaus. Dale then became involved in the motorcycle and snowmobile business for many years in numerous locations. Dale received his nursing degree from Kirkwood Community College. He was a nurse in the St. Croix Falls area for many years, until he retired there.  He was an avid Packers and Hawkeye fan, attending games in Green Bay and Iowa City, as well as collecting much memorabilia. Dale would later marry his second wife Kathy. Together they were active travelers visiting Europe, Canada, Mexico, and much of the United States. Dale loved traveling via Amtrak and has been on most of the rail tracks across the country.

Dale is survived by his children, Terry Nienhaus of Milwaukee, WI, Steve (Nicole) Nienhaus of Muscatine, IA, Chris (Jennifer) Nienhaus of Muscatine, IA; grandchildren, Jacob, Colton, Kealy, Keaton, Annabelle, John, Jaxson, Avery; 2 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marilyn (Robert) Blong, Garvin Nienhaus, Cheryl (Kevin) Mracek, Rick (Martye) Nienhaus. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathy Nienhaus; brother, Allen Nienhaus.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 26, 2021 at Our Lady of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, Iowa with Rev. Robert Gross as the celebrant. There will be a one hour visitation from 10-11 am at the church on Monday.
