Isabel Sophie Louise Kurth, 97, of Monona, Iowa died Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. She was born to John and Lucy (Sass) Sass on August 11, 1923 in Mendon Township, McGregor, Iowa. Isabel was baptized on October 3, 1923 by Pastor Daugs and confirmed on April 10, 1938 by Rev. Siefekes. She attended Eno Country school in Luana, Iowa
On October 29, 1941, Isabel was united in marriage with Dale Kurth at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Larry and Gloria. Together they farmed their entire life in Wagner Township, Clayton County, Iowa. Isabel enjoyed working on the farm, gardening, quilting, crocheting, dancing to country music and baking cookies for the grandchildren. Her greatest joy was visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Isabel was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, Iowa and was also a member of WELCA. In 2006, Isabel and Dale moved to Monona, Iowa.
Surviving Isabel are her daughter, Gloria (Leigh) Keehner of Farmersburg, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Julie Kurth of Farmersburg, Iowa; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and her nieces and nephews.
Isabel was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lucy Sass; husband, Dale Kurth; son, Larry Kurth; great-grandson, Blayne Kurth; and her aunts, uncles and cousins.
Private Family Services will be held.
