Alice Irene Montgomery, 83, of Monona, Iowa, died Saturday October 23, 2021 at Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa. Alice was born September 27th, 1938 to Clarence and Lucile (Laufer) Davis in McGregor, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in McGregor, Ia. She first attended school in Farmersburg at the rural country school and later went to the rural Moody Ridge School.
Alice was united in marriage to Donald F Montgomery Jr. at St. Mary’s Catholic church on December 30, 1961. Alice and Don later raised their niece Linda and nephews, John and Donald as their own. Alice worked at Fox’s Drug store in Monona and later Monona Wire. After working for 34 years at Monona Wire she retired in 2009.
Alice is survived by her brother Kenneth (Louanne) of McGregor, “children”, Linda Barnett of Parsons, TN, John (Sarah) Montgomery of Newberry, FL, and Donald (Fiancée Peggy) Montgomery of Guttenberg, Ia.; nieces and nephews, Terri (Bob) Wall of McGregor, IA, Mark Meyer of Minneapolis, MN, Angie Davis of Minneapolis, MN, Bob (Brittany) Davis of Giard, IA, Scott (Gretchen) Davis of Mound View, MN and Burton (Ember) Walters of McGregor, IA; and many great nieces and great-nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband Don in 2009, her parents Clarence and Lucille Davis and two sisters, Sharon (in infancy), Donna Walters and brother-in-law, Burton Walters.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 AM Friday, October 29, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 405 S. East Street, Monona, IA 52159 with Fr. Chris Podhajsky officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to service at the church.
Burial of cremated remains to follow services at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Monona.
