Allen Gene Tupper, 94, of West Union died on October 14, 2021, at Stoney Brook Assisted Living with his family at his side. Allen was born on September 21, 1927, in Auburn to Leo and Pearl (Johnston) Tupper. He attended country school in Auburn, leaving high school to farm with his father. Allen served his country in the United States Army from 1945-1947. He was part of a traveling local baseball team when he was in his early twenties.
On December 11, 1954, he was united in marriage to Marian Thies at Zion Lutheran Church. Two children were born to this union. Allen farmed his entire life, and he received the Century Farm designation in 2015. Allen was an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman and sold morel mushrooms to people throughout the region. Allen and Marian were married for 50 years before her death in 2005. In 2014, Allen moved to Stoney Brook Village Assisted Living and was close friends with many residents and staff there. He especially enjoyed doing puzzles, tending the garden, and playing cards while at Stoney Brook.
Surviving Allen are his children, Larry (Joanne) Tupper of Ionia, Iowa and Tracy (Russ) Nelson of Evergreen, Colorado; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Cory) Kuehn, Stephanie (Blake) Sorensen, Michael Tupper, Katherine Tupper, and Anna Nelson; and four great-grandchildren, Weston, Charlie, Ashton, and Avery. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Marian, his parents, Leo and Pearl Tupper, and his brother, Orvis.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021, from 5-7 PM at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, with a luncheon following the service.
A Graveside Service with Military Rites will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Auburn at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 19, 2021.
