Marilyn Lois Lamker, 86, Monona, Iowa, died Monday, October 11, 2021, at Mercy One in Elkader, Iowa. Marilyn was born November 17, 1934 to Claude and Esther (Hochhaus) Fishel in Edgewood, Iowa. She was baptized in 1935 at Hope Lutheran Church in Littleport, Iowa and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. Marilyn attended country school and graduated from Monona High School in 1952.
Marilyn was united in marriage to Roger Henkes on November 29, 1952. Two children were born to this union, Pam and Scott. On November 13, 1999, Marilyn was united in marriage with Duane Lamker.
Marilyn was an active member of her church including teaching Sunday School, Bible School, and participating in Women’s groups. Marilyn loved to garden, spend time with family, cook, play cards, watch the birds, and found joy in all the things life had to offer. Marilyn gave in death as she gave in life; by enhancing the lives of others through the generous gift of tissue donation.
Surviving Marilyn are her children, Pam (Sid) Mills of North Liberty, Iowa and Scott Henkes of Farmersburg, Iowa; four grandchildren, Nick (Tasha) Henkes of Monona, Iowa, Ashley Mills of North Liberty, Iowa, Cody (Morgan) Henkes of Monona, Iowa and Tara (Logan) Dumolien of Coggon, Iowa; six great-grandchildren, Bentley, Mavrik, Colt Henkes (Cody’s), Bo and Maxine Henkes (Nick’s), Lukas Mills (Ashley’s); several nieces and nephews, very special step-children and their families; sisters, Delores Wakeland of Hale, Missouri, Rose Marie Knight of Strawberry Point, Iowa and Patricia Zach of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Esther Fishel; husband, Duane Lamker on August 15, 2013; brother Robert Fishel; two sisters, Roberta at birth and Dorothy Huinker; sister-in-law, Irene Fishel; brothers-in-law, Charles Wakeland, Dean Knight, Don Huinker and Robert Zach; and nieces, Crystal Mielke, Corrine Henkes, Coleen Hunter and Debbie Wakeland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the MFL Ambulance Service, St. Paul Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice. Marilyn gave in death as she gave in life; she was an organ and tissue donor.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 10am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. The Rev. Erika Lenth will be the officiant.
Visitation will be held one hour before services at the church on Saturday, October 23, 2021.
Inurnment will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Monona, Iowa.
