Evan Michael Pape, Luana, Iowa, November 4, 2021.

Evan Michael Pape, 38, of Luana, IA passed away on Thursday, Nov 4, 2021. Evan was born October 20, 1983 to Steven and Clare (Huinker) Pape in Postville, Iowa. He was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church on May 17th, 1998. Evan graduated from MFL MarMac High School in 2002.

Evan currently worked for Smitty’s Oil and TIre in Monona, IA. Evan’s past employment included IAS, Bentien Builders, Cabela’s, and numerous jobs in the area of farming.

Evan was a kind and gentle man who offered a friendly smile and helping hand to anyone in his path. His passions in life were hunting, fishing, woodworking, being outdoors, being with his family, and most of all his son, Layton. Evan was ambitious in the time he spent with his family and his many projects they embarked on; woodworking, wood carving, milling lumber, building musky lures, and many others. He often had his ideas of what needed to be done and the ways he wanted to accomplish things, as one friend stated, he had his own “true north”. Evan will always be remembered as a father, son, brother, and a friend to all who knew him.

Surviving Evan are his son, Layton Gerald Pape; Layton’s mother, Emily Severson of Elkader, his parents Steve Pape of Luana, Iowa and Clare (Mike) Benzing of Monona; his brother Brent (Angie) Pape of Luana, Iowa; niece and nephews, Kordell, Kadence, and Kole Pape; Denis and Kristi Benzing of Decorah, IA; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Preceding Evan in death were his maternal grandparents, Don and Dorothy Huinker and paternal grandparents, Gerald and Marilyn Pape, Aunt and Godmother, Nancy Wirkler.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Wednesday.

Funeral Service will at 10:30 am on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa with Pastor Jeremy Wolfe as the officiant.
