Oliver Roy Thiese, Jr., age 84, of Elkader, Iowa, passed away January 15, 2022, at the Elkader Care Center due to natural causes.
Oliver was born March 6, 1937, on a farm outside of Elkader, to Oliver and Edna (Zimpfer) Thiese. He was their only child. He grew up on the same farm, working with his parents. Oliver attended country school nearby their home, and later got his GED.
On January 4, 1958, Oliver married Margaret Ann Sheaver. Together they had 5 children. In the 1960’s the family moved to another dairy farm close by his parents. Oliver loved caring for the animals and the land and provided well for his family. He had a sense of humor and enjoyed all friends and neighbors, as well as telling a joke now and then.
Oliver was baptized as a member of the Elkader congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 12, 1953.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, children: Robin (Danny) Hurst of Cresco, IA., Michael (Melissa) Thiese of Mason City, IA., Pauline Leinen of Cedar Rapids, IA., Joel (Elizabeth) Thiese of Elkader, IA., Grandchildren: Samuel (Carissa) Hurst of Canton, IL., Jacob (Laura) Hurst of Van Nuys, CA., Laura (Whitney) Lindholm of Clackamas, OR., Matthew Hurst of Clackamas, OR., Sonya Hurst of Rochester, MN., Mariah (Lars) Rasmussen of Rochester, Mn., Brittney Leinen of Cedar Rapids, IA., Claire, Alexis, Joel Jr., Arthur, Ruby and Clarence Thiese of Elkader, IA. Great-grandchildren: Crystal Lindholm, Alexys and Calvin Hurst, Ella Rasmussen.
Oliver is preceded in death by his father, Oliver John Thiese, Sr., mother, Edna Thiese, and infant daughter, Mary Ann Thiese.
