Harvey Levenhagen, Monona, Iowa, February 13, 2022

Harvey John Levenhagen, 83, of Monona, Iowa died Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Harvey was born January 24, 1939 to Chris and Emma (Kiester) Levenhagen in Monona, Iowa.  He was baptized on February 26, 1939 and confirmed on May 24, 1953, both at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. Harvey graduated from Monona High School in 1957.  As a young man after High School Harvey spent several years working in the forest service in Oregon and then continued to serve his country in the US Army stationed in Germany.

While on leave from the Army Harvey returned to his home On December 27, 1961 to be united in marriage with JoLena Gisleson at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa. Two sons were born to this union, Michael and Stephen.

After his time in Germany Harvey Again returned to Northeast Iowa to raise his family and was self-employed as a truck driver and farming on his family farm in Allamakee County.

Harvey enjoyed construction, carpentry and restoring old furniture he would buy at auctions.  His hobbies included snowmobiling, fishing, playing guitar and singing old gospel songs.

Though suffering increasing health issues in his retirement Harvey remained occupied fixing things around the house, going to auctions finding antiques to restore and keeping a booth to sell his finds at the School House Mall in Marquette.  When he was not busy with projects Harvey spent time traveling with his wife and life long companion, Jolena, to see the country or visit his boys and granddaughter.

Surviving Harvey are his wife, JoLena Levenhagen of Monona, Iowa; sons, Michael Levenhagen of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Stephen Levenhagen of Madison, Wisconsin; a granddaughter, Morgan Levenhagen of Limestone, Tennessee and four sisters, Darlene Miller, Agnes Tesar, Helen Harback and Edna Patrick.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Emma Levenhagen; and his sisters, Lovina Timmerman, Margie Schlein, Lillian Eldreth and Mary Turner and brother Donald Levenhagen.

Visitation will be held from Noon to 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Faith Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa.

Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Faith Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa with Rev. Mel Harris as the officiant.

Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Monona, Iowa.
