Sandra (Sandy) Rae Grady, 72, of Monona, Iowa died Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the UW Hosptial in Madison, WI after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer. Sandy was born on January 3, 1950 to Lawrence and Darlene Kottman. Sandy was baptized and confirmed as a Lutheran but later converted to the Catholic Faith when she married.
On August 27, 1966, Sandy was united in marriage with Ronald Grady at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Monona, Iowa. Two children were born to this union, Ronda and Randy. Sandy did in-home daycare for many years before working as a Deli Clerk at Quillin’s Grocery Store in Monona. Whether it was during the daycare days or as a deli clerk, Sandy always had a way to touch people’s hearts. She was very kind, gentle, and had a contagious smile. Sandy lived for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all of the grand puppies.
Sandy is survived by her children; Ronda (Randy) Glawe of Monona and Randy (Sarah) Grady of McGregor; five grandchildren, Ryan (Amber) Glawe, Kaitlyn, Elizabeth, Eric and Emi Grady; three great-grandchildren, Reagan, Brayden, and Carson Glawe; three sisters, Brenda White, Carlean Lange, Duana Atherton, and one brother, Laone Kishman. Also surviving are, Brother-in-law Bill (Carol) Grady of Monona, Sister-in-law’s, Ludy Grady, of Monona, Sharon Meisner of Onalaska, Wisconsin, Carol Drahn of Prairie Du Chien, WI, Mary (Gordon) Krambeer of Hiawatha.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Grady, her parents, and a baby sister, Connie.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022, from 4-8 pm with a scripture service at 7:30 pm at the Leonard – Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Monona, Iowa. Visitation will also be held one hour before mass time.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022, at 10:30 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Monona, Iowa.
Burial will follow in the Monona Cemetery, Monona, Iowa. A luncheon and fellowship will follow at the church after the burial.
