Sherry Lyn King, Sioux Falls, South Dakota formerly of West Union, Iowa, March 1, 2022

Sherry Lyn King died on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 after a battle with lung cancer.  Sherry was born on April 8, 1953 to Lyle and ElDonna Kurth Looby in Postville Iowa.  She was baptized and confirmed at Gunder Lutheran Church.   She graduated from Postville High School in 1971 and attended the University of Northern Iowa.  She graduated in May of 1978.

On March 28, 1981, she married Arnold King Jr.  They later divorced.  They had two sons, Jason and Cody.  Sherry worked at Northern Engraving in Waukon and then decided to stay at home and raise the boys.  In April of 1997, she went to work at Bostrom’s grocery store for 23 years, continuing on as it became Moore’s Foods and Quillin’s Foods.

Sherry loved spending time with her grandchildren.  She loved doing search a word puzzles and was an avid reader and collected cookie jars.

In March of 2020, she moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to be closer to two of her grandchildren, Liam and Patrick.

Survivors are sons, Jason (Natasha) King of Sioux Falls and Cody (Angela) King of New Bremen, Ohio; three grandchildren, Liam and Patrick King and Kristin King as well as her brothers, Randy Looby, Terry Looby, Ricky Looby, Lanny Looby and her sister, Tammy Jones.

Preceding Sherry in death were parents, Lyle and ElDonna Kurth Looby; grandparents, Charles and Althea Lembke Looby and Eldon and Ella Koopman Kurth  and niece, Annissa Lyn Schroeder.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 7, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in West Union, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Tuesday.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union, Iowa with Rev. Susan Friedrich and presiding minister Isaiah Stansbery as the officiants.

Burial will be at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Gooding Cemetery, rural Farmersburg, Iowa.
