Marlene Joy (Wedo) Greener, 83 of Eldridge, Iowa formerly Elgin, Iowa died Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa. Marlene was born at her grandmother’s home in Clermont on November 18, 1938, the daughter of Fred and Amelia (Miller) Wedo and grew up in Elgin, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She graduated from Elgin High School with the class of 1956.

Marlene was united in marriage with Arden Greener on July 17, 1960. Two children, Alan and Angela were born to this union. Marlene spent several years as Church Secretary at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and in 1972 began working at the Elgin Post Office. In 1981 she was appointed Postmaster and served Elgin in this capacity until her retirement in 1998.

Marlene is survived by her husband, Arden; children, Alan of Louisville, Ky and Angela (Peter) Drahozal and Grandson, Joseph of Eldridge, Iowa; one sister, Glenda Hyde of Cedar Rapids; sister- in-law, Virginia Wedo of Elgin, Iowa along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Amelia Wedo; brothers, Vernon Wedo and Russel Wedo; and her brother -in-law, Gary Hyde.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Elgin, Iowa.

Graveside Service at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Elgin Cemetery in Elgin, Iowa.
