Russell Francis Pate, Farmersburg, Iowa, April 4, 2022

Russell Francis Pate, 78, of Farmersburg, Iowa died Monday, April 4, 2022 at Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point, Iowa.  Russell was born September 19, 1943 to Russell Pearson and Frances Dorothy (Jirsa) Pate in Portage, Wisconsin.

On August 29, 1961 Russell was united in marriage with Virginia Miller in Farmersburg, Iowa. Three children were born to this union. Russell was a Dairy Farmer his entire life, retiring in 2004. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, and served on the church council, Clayton County Extension Council, Farmersburg Township Trustee, President of the Clayton County Dairy Association, 4-H Leader and member of the DHIA Board.

Russell is survived by his three children, Christina Pate of Farmersburg, Iowa, Brian (Lauri) Pate of Eagan, Minnesota and Robert (Melody) Pate of Fort Wayne, Indiana; three grandchildren, Phillip, Gregory and Christopher Pate; his siblings, John (Janet) Pate, Doug (Ronna) Pate, Rose (wife, Susan Erdmann) Pate and Steve (special friend, Pat) Pate; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Pate; parents, Russell and Frances Pate; and his sister, Judy Pate.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Monona, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Saturday.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, Iowa with Pastor Jeremy Wolfe as the officiant.

Burial will follow at Farmersburg-Wagner Cemetery in Farmersburg, Iowa.
