Marsha Elaine Hyman, 74, of Hawkeye, Iowa died Sunday, January 23, 2022 due to complications from a brain tumor. Hospice along with Gundersen Palmer Hospital in West Union, Iowa, kept her comfortable until her body could go no more. Marsha was born December 21, 1947 to Marshall “Red” and Dorothy (Hines) Markley in Oelwein, Iowa. She graduated from Oelwein High School.
On April 12, 1969 Marsha was united in marriage with James Hyman. Together they raised three sons. Throughout the years, Marsha was a homemaker, farmwife, as well as the owner and operator of The Painting Locker in Hawkeye, Iowa. It was here that she painted as well as taught classes on how to paint. She enjoyed doing crafts including candles, pottery, and ceramics. Marsha also enjoyed camping, gardening, and doing word search puzzles.
Surviving Marsha are her two sons, John (Janet) Hyman of Washburn, Iowa, and David (Michelle) Hyman of Keota, Iowa; three grandchildren, Cortney Hyman of Johnston, Iowa, Branden Hyman of Keota, Iowa and Matthew Hyman of Keota, Iowa; one brother, Michael (Jean) Markley of Reeds Spring, Missouri; many nieces and nephews and her friend, Ron Kuennen.
Marsha was preceded in death by her husband, James Hyman on July 4, 2008; son, Francis Hyman on January 8, 2005; and her parents, Red and Dorothy Markley.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Hawkeye Community Center in Hawkeye, Iowa. There will be a one hour visitation before services on Friday.
Burial will be at Hawkeye Cemetery in Hawkeye, Iowa.
Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
