Gerald “Jerry” Jennings, Farmersburg, Iowa, June 30, 2022

Gerald “Jerry” Jennings, 84, of Farmersburg, Iowa died Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Mercy One in Elkader, Iowa. Gerald was born April 4, 1938 to Lyle and Blanche (Goranson) Jennings on the family farm near Volga, Iowa. He attended and graduated from Volga High School in 1956.  Jerry served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1962.

Jerry was united in marriage with Dorothy Taake on January 7, 1961 at Zion Lutheran Church in Clayton Center. Two children were born to this union. Jerry worked on the family farm after returning home from the military. He later worked at Dittmer Motor Rhomberg Implement and in 1963 entered a partnership with Kenny Kuehl. Later Gerald owned the Farmersburg Implement until his retirement in 2001.

Jerry enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially fishing in the summer at the trailer on Ambro Island near Prairie du Chien. In the winter he enjoyed snowmobiling with the snowbirds. He also loved spending time with his favorite pets, Buffy and Bella.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; his daughter, Jill Jennings of Slidell, LA; pet dog, Bella; brother, Kenneth Jennings from Mt. Vernon; niece, Chris Clark from Mt. Vernon; nephew, David Jennings of Tarzanna, CA; and sister-in-law, Mary (Karl)Leete.

Jerry is reunited with his infant daughter, Julie (Passed in 1976); his parents, Lyle and Blanche Jennings; in-laws, Ervin and Mildred Taake; fishing buddy, Buffy and many other friends.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, Iowa.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, Iowa with Rev. Jeremy Wolfe as the officiant.

Burial will follow at Clayton Center Cemetery in Clayton Center, Iowa
