Loren R. Looney, Postville, Iowa, July 3, 2022

Loren R. Looney, 61, of Postville, IA, died Sunday, July 3, 2022, at his daughter’s home in rural Waukon, IA, following a three year courageous battle with cancer. A prayer service will be held Saturday, July 9th, at 11:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church’s fellowship hall with Lisa Schroeder officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery, Monona, IA. Friends may greet the family from 9:00 AM until the time of the prayer service in the church fellowship hall. Martin – Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Northeast Iowa Shooting Club or Postville Ambulance Service.

Loren Ray Looney was born October 22, 1960, in Postville, IA, the son of Ambrose and Betty (Koecke) Looney. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Postville and graduated from Postville High School in 1979. On April 25, 1992, he married Julie Hageman at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Postville, they had a daughter Carley. They later divorced. He worked for Home Oil Company, Mueller Construction, Postville Ford, and most recently at Norplex, all in Postville.

Loren enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, road tours around the countryside, and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed following the Iowa State Cyclones and Chicago Bears.

Survivors include his daughter Carley (Glen Monroe) Looney of Waukon, his granddaughters: Aleigha and Brielle Koester of Waukon; his siblings: Jane (Dennis) Meyer of Waukon, and Barb Gericke, Michael Looney, Susan Looney, Mark (Diane) Looney, and Teresa (Doug) Berg, all of Postville; his special companion Tucker; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law John Gericke; and a sister-in-law Dorothy Looney.
