Donald John Wenthold, 81, of Decorah, Iowa passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, Iowa. Donald was born to Margaret Hackman Wenthold and Felix William Wenthold on December 27, 1940 in Smith Memorial Hospital in Decorah, Iowa. Donny attended school at St. Francis de Sales in Ossian, Iowa. Donald grew up on the family farm in Winneshiek County and actively farmed the homestead until his retirement.
Donny enjoyed collecting tractors full size and toy models. He loved watching NASCAR racing and of course, his highly anticipated trips to the Mable Minnesota Steam Engine Days. Donny was a kind soul. May he rest in peace.
Donny was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret and father, Felix; his brother, Darrell; step-mother, Mary; sister-in-law, Tina and nephew, Graham Ness.
Surviving siblings are Kathleen (Conrad) Kriener of Ft. Atkinson, Iowa; Elaine (William) Ness of Atlanta, Georgia; Jean Wenthold of Davenport, Iowa; and Marilyn (Steve) Courtney of Lakeland, Florida.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, Iowa with Rev. Henry Huber as the Celebrant.
Burial will follow at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Cemetery in Ossian, Iowa.
Schmitz-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Ossian Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
