Roger Drahn, Monona, Iowa, October 13, 2022

Roger Allen Drahn, 87, of Monona, Iowa died Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Garden View Place in Monona, Iowa. Roger was born May 18, 1935 to Elmer and June (Fox) Drahn. He graduated from Monona High School.

On August 24, 1952, Roger was united in marriage with Virginia Denning at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, Iowa. Two sons were born to this union, Rick and Dennis. Roger spent his time operating the family farm, where they raised pigs, milked and grew crops.  He was so proud to stand with the family while receiving the Century and Heritage farm awards at the State Fair. He enjoyed spending time on the Mississippi River fishing and boating.  He was even known for pulling Rick and Dennis skiing in their six person pyramid.  He also enjoyed deer hunting, riding horses and buggy rides.  He was an avid sports fan and loved watching his Iowa Hawkeyes.

Surviving Roger are his wife, Virginia Drahn of Monona, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Mary (Dennis) Baumgartner of Monona, Iowa; six grandchildren, Cory (Candace) Drahn of Farmersburg, Iowa, Milisa Walker of Boonville, Missouri, Casey Drahn of Monona, Iowa, Jessi (Jeremy) Nagel of Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin, Chelsey (Keaton) Stumpf of Riverside, Iowa and Chandler Drahn of Kansas City, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Chanice (Cody) Larson, Chaun’te (Bryar) Ruff, Cedrick Drahn, Chauncy Drahn, Kennedy Walker, Madison Walker, Ethan Gunderson, Jayla Nagel, Jadence Nagel, Jace Nagel, Thadrick Stumpf, Breyer Stumpf and Tierney Stumpf; great-great-grandchildren, Bowen and Layken Larson and Baby Ruff on the way; and one sister, Carole Holly of Monticello, Iowa.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and June Drahn; two sons, Rick Drahn and Dennis Drahn; and one sister, Bonnie Henning.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Monona, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Monday.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am on Monday, October 17, 2022 at First Congregational United Church of Christ in McGregor, Iowa with Rev. William Gentry II as the officiant.

Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Monona, Iowa.
