Bernard “Berny” William Bowers, 65 of Fayette, Iowa died Sunday, October 2, 2022 at his home in Fayette, Iowa. Berny was born August 12, 1957 to Thomas Byron and Marian Edna (Klass) Bowers in Cuba City, Wisconsin. He attended elementary school at St. Rose in Cuba City, high school at Holy Name Seminary in Madison, Wisconsin and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where he earned his accounting degree in 1979.
Berny was united in marriage with Barbara J. Jerdee at Trinity Lutheran in New Hampton, Iowa. Two children were born to this union. Benjamin and Brittany. Throughout the years, Berny worked for Freymiller Trucking in Shulllsburg, Wisconsin, Lloyd Pattison and Sons in Fayette, Iowa, FS in Maynard and Hazelton, Pattison Brothers in Fayette and Pattison Sand in Fayette and Clayton, Iowa. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Fayette Jaycees, Fayette Cardinal Club, Lions in Fayette, and Big Rock Country Club. Berny enjoyed walking around Fayette, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, biking, golfing and recycling. His greatest joy was spending time with family, travelling and watching his grandkid’s activities. Berny was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Green Bay Packers.
Surviving Berny are his wife, Barbara Bowers of Fayette, Iowa; two children, Benjamin (Allison) Bowers of Hudson, Iowa and Brittany (Kevin) Guinn of Rohnert Park, California; grandchildren, Briar Bowers, Paisley Bowers, Myles Bowers, Madisyn Guinn, Peyton Guinn and Rylie Guinn; siblings, Jim (Liz Grosberg) Bowers of Port Washington, Wisconsin, Tom (Sue) Bowers of Austin, Minnesota and Bill (Mary) Bowers of Pittsboro, North Carolina; mother-in-law, Beverly Jerdee of New Hampton and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Berny in death were his parents, Thomas and Marian Bowers; and father-in-law, George Jerdee.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Monday.
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am on Monday, October 10, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union, Iowa with Isaiah Stansbery as the officiant.
Inurnment will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Fayette, Iowa. A luncheon will be served at the Fayette Opera House following the inurnment.
