Linda Kay Handke, 74, of rural Elkader, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022 at the Elkader Care Center.
She was born May 3, 1948, on a farm near Bear Creek, Clayton County, Elkport, Iowa, to Paul and Geraldine (Waterman) Peuker.
Linda graduated from Ed-Co High School. She married Arthur Handke, Jr. on June 18, 1966, at Hope Lutheran Church, rural Littleport. Two children were born to this
union. The couple farmed near Motor Mill. She enjoyed working with her husband, cooking meals for her family, reading the newspapers, fishing, bird watching, hunting, gardening, sheep, cattle, dogs, cats, chickens, and rabbits, but most of all spending time with her kids and grandkids.
Survivors include her children, Paula (Bob Wiedner) Hansel of Elkader; James (Kari) Handke of Dundee, grandchildren, Samantha Hansel of Elgin, Cooper Handke of Dundee, and another on the way; brother, Keith Peuker of Edgewood; sister, Margie (Jerry) Harbaugh of Edgewood; niece, Amanda Harbaugh; two great-nieces, Kassidy Krapfl and Violet Genthe.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on March 26, 2004 and her brother, Vernon Peuker.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Hope Lutheran Church, rural Littleport.
Visitation: 5PM to 7 PM on Monday, October 17, 2022, at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Elkader and one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.
Interment: East Side Cemetery, Elkader
