Shirley Louise Whittle, 85 of McGregor, Iowa, formerly of Luana, Iowa and Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa. Shirley was born July 15, 1937 to Hubert and Elizabeth (Blume) Doerring in rural Luana, Iowa. She graduated from Luana High School and attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
On February 18, 1960, Shirley was united in marriage with Bernard Whittle. Shirley was a manager at Monona Wire. She spent most of her life in Luana, Iowa and after retirement moved to Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. She loved playing piano, cards, traveling and was a Green Bay Packer fan. Shirley enjoyed being the “gift fairy” and always had to give the biggest and best gifts.
Surviving Shirley are her sister, Linda Lou Roberts of Monona, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; honorary grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Rose Binns and Darlyn Griffith; brother-in-law, Adelbert (Darlene) Whittle.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Whittle; her parents, Hubert and Elizabeth Doerring; brothers-in-law, Wayne Lestina and Edwin Roberts; and her beloved poodle, Odie.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Monona, Iowa.
Memorial Service will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Monona, Iowa with Deacon Pat Malanaphy as the officiant.
There will be a Private Burial at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Monona, Iowa.
