Edith Marie Seitz, 83, of rural Elkader passed away at her home on Friday, February 17, 2023, with family by her side.
Edith is survived by her daughter; three sons; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; three sisters and many friends.
Edith was a long time active member of Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader, where she was always ready to lend a helping hand. She was a dedicated school bus driver for Central High School in Elkader for over 35 years. The kids on her bus route nicknamed her “Speedy Edie”. In 2002, she became an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary and in 2012-2013, she was the the District Vice President of Unit 106. It was all her dedication that this unit survived and still is active today
Edith enjoyed every minute that she had with family and anybody that stopped in. After all of this, she still had time to watch the “Cubs” play, do some traveling, gardening, caring for the flowers, and quilting became another passion of hers. Last of all, her most treasured time was when family and friends came to the Fourth of July picnics and fireworks that were held at her home on Highway 56 for the last 20 years.
Edie was preceded in death by her parents; son; daughter; daughter-in-law; two husbands, Laurence Lerch, 29 years of marriage and Leonard Seitz, five years of marriage and many loved ones.
Visitation: 4 to 7 PM, on Friday, February 24, 2023, at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Elkader and one hour before service time at the church on Saturday.
Funeral Service: 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader with Rev. Mark Yackel-Juleen Officiating.
Inurnment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elkader American Legion Auxiliary or Peace United Church of Christ.
