Stanley Clarence Tope, West Union, Iowa, February 24, 2023

Stanley Clarence Tope, 80, of West Union, Iowa passed away Friday, February 24, 2023 at Gundersen Palmer Lutheran Hospital in West Union, Iowa. Stanley was born March 28, 1942 to Clarence and Violet (Reinhart) Tope in West Union, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union, Iowa. Stanley graduated from North High School in 1960. He proudly joined and served in the United States Army and was stationed in Alaska.

On October 14, 1967, Stanley was united in marriage with Connie Moore at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union, Iowa. Three children were born to this union. Throughout the years Stanley worked as a Surveyor for Fayette County for a short time, for Big Gain Feed and then West Union CO-OP, retiring in 2005. He was a member of the American Legion Post 15 and Zion Lutheran Church, both of West Union, Iowa. Stanley loved family vacations, spending time at the Tope Ranch, spending time with his children and grandchildren, dancing, fishing and listening to gospel and classic country music.

Stanley is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Connie Tope of West Union, Iowa; his three children, Timothy (Marcia) Tope of Waukee, Iowa, Jeffrey (Billie) Tope of Newhall, Iowa and Kimberly (Justin) Koenig of Chesterton, Indiana; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Ann, Benjamin Timothy, Zachary Darrett, Sawyer Scot and Spencer Ray; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Tope, Diana (Doug) Bacon, Sanda (Daryl) Weidemann and Karren McAtee; brother-in-law, Ralph (LeAnne) Moore Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Stanley in death were his parents, Clarence and Violet Tope; one brother, Jim Tope; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Eva Moore.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home in West Union, Iowa.

A family graveside service will be held at a future date.
