Madonna Jean Toberman, 87 of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Madonna was born August 5, 1935 to Arthur and Gladys (West) Barrette in Patch Grove Wisconsin. She attended St. Mary’s Parochial in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
On September 10, 1953, Madonna was united in marriage with Richard Toberman. Nine children were born to this union. Throughout the years Madonna worked at 3-M for 16 years, then started her sewing and alteration business. She had also worked at Tony’s Grill, Sunset and Geislers Blue Heaven. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Madonna enjoyed sewing, painting, flying airplanes, bird watching, traveling, doing ceramics, square dancing and knitting.
Surviving Madonna are her children, Connie (Bob) Morgan of Prairie du Chien Wisconsin, Peggy Morrissey of Shelton, Washington, Daniel (Susan) Toberman of Knoxville, Tennessee, Shane (Denise) Toberman of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Scott (Wanda) Toberman of Lawler, Iowa, Diane Toberman of Hudson, Wisconsin, Brian Toberman of New Richmond, Wisconsin, Kevin (Melody) Toberman of Garnavillo, Iowa and Marcia (John) Hagen of Vadnais Heights, Minnesota; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; her brothers, Mark (Sandy) Barrette of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and Gary (Nancy) Barrette of Wauzeka, Wisconsin; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Sally Barrette; and brother-in-law, Richard Proof.
Madonna was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Toberman; grandson, Nicholas Toberman; parents, Arthur and Gladys Barrette; and her siblings, Sylvester Barrette, Lorraine Mainor, Darlene Proof, Dale Barrette and Gloria Rabe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
A Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a Funeral Service at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Prairie United Methodist Church in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin with Rev. Zach Bloom as the officiant.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
