Arlene Miller, 92, of West Union, Iowa passed away Friday, April 21, 2023 at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette, Iowa. She was born December 10, 1930 to Collin and Mildred (Hartz) Hamilton in Waterloo, Iowa. Arlene attended and graduated from Gates Business School in Waterloo, Iowa.
On September 27, 1950, Arlene was united in marriage with Daniel A. Miller. Four children were born to this union. Arlene was employed by Peoples Natural Gas Company in West Union for 30 years while raising her four children, and later she worked with her son Jeff at Miller Insurance Agency. Arlene devoted her time to her family and volunteered for her community and church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and Holy Name Rosary Society and volunteered for the American Cancer Society and the Northeast Iowa Resource Center as well as her church where she taught CCD classes and planned funeral luncheons. She always enjoyed helping her husband Dan manage the Fayette County Fair. Her hobbies were playing Bridge, gardening, cooking, and baking. She was well known for her fancy birthday cakes and wedding cakes over the years, and her homemade cinnamon rolls and biscuits were always a favorite!
Surviving Arlene are her children, Judy (Daniel) Holmes of Urbandale, Iowa; Steven (Amy Kennedy) Miller of Greenwood Village, Colorado; Jeffry Miller of West Union, Iowa; and Rich (Sheila) Miller of Guttenberg, Iowa; grandchildren, Jocelyn Asada, Jake Holmes, Jodie Nelson, Will Miller, Emma Miller, Tom Miller, Danielle Miller and Nikolas Miller; great grandchildren, Elivia, Logan, Rocco, River and Paisley; and her sister, LaDonna Fitzpatrick of Ireland.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Collin and Mildred Hamilton; husband, Daniel Miller on August 10, 1993; three brothers, Collin, James and Harold; and one sister, Catherine.
A Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union, Iowa.
Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union, Iowa with Rev. Ralph Davis as the celebrant.
Inurnment will follow the luncheon at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Fairbank, Iowa.
