Donald Ray Lott, Volga City, Iowa, April 8, 2023

Donald Ray Lott, 88 of Volga City, Iowa passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023 at his farm. He was born May 29, 1934 to Ransom Ray and Cora Omega (Cordry) Lott in Jefferson County, Nebraska. Donald graduated from West High in Waterloo, Iowa in 1952. After graduating, Donald joined and served in the United States Navy Seabee’s and the United States Marines.

On June 29, 1957, Donald was united in marriage with Vivian Beckner at Grace Methodist Church in Waterloo, Iowa. This summer would have marked 66 years of marriage. Throughout the years, Donald worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as a lineman and also installed payphones. He retired in September 1994 after forty years. He was a member of various saddle clubs and a devout member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Elkader. Donald enjoyed being outdoors, a horseman, his long horn cattle, and his Allis Chalmers tractors. His greatest love was spending time on the farm with his family.

Surviving Donald are his wife, Vivian Lott of Volga City, Iowa; his children, Daniel (Renelle) Lott of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Diane Lott-Garcia of Newman, California, Michael (Erin) Lott of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Linda Lott (James Andrew) of Olathe, Kansas, Joseph (Melissa) Lott of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Samuel Lott of Volga City, Iowa, Thomas (Kimberly) Lott of Wadena, Iowa and Luke (April) Lott of Garber, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Winifred Buttke of Moline, Illinois, Robert Lott of Waterloo, Iowa, Larry Lott of Dike, Iowa and Linda (James Andrew of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:30 with a 2:30 Service on Sunday April 23, 2023 at the Volga City Opera House in Volga City, Iowa.
