Marilyn Ann Armentrout, Postville, Iowa, June 19, 2023

Marilyn Ann (LaRoque) Armentrout daughter of Floyd and Doris LaRoque was born February 9, 1950 in Hampton, IA.  She was baptized on July 2, 1950 at the Congregational Church in Hampton, IA.  She graduated from Sheffield Chapin High School in 1968.  She attended the University of Northern Iowa and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972.  She was united in marriage with Bill Armentrout at the Congregational Church in Hampton, IA on December 28, 1971.

Marilyn was a Christian, mother and wife.  Her’s is an example of a life well lived.  She loved God and was always thinking of others.

Marilyn was employed by the Postville Community School district as a substitute teacher, coach and athletic director.  She was church secretary at Community Presbyterian Church and office manager at Postville Chiropractic Clinic.

Marilyn loved spending time with friends and family.  She never got enough of going to her children’s and grandchildren’s events.  We think she enjoyed having “bleacher butt”!  She would always take time to play cards and games with her family, and she gave no quarter.   If they beat mom/grandma they knew they earned it.

Marilyn was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed crafting.  Summers were filled with gardening and her love of golf (2 hole-in-ones).  She was very active in church and PEO, serving on many committees.

The later years of Marilyn’s life were filled with numerous health issues.  She finally succumbed on June 19, 2023 as a result of multiple strokes.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Bill;  her four children, Alison (Brian) Marovets of Williamsburg, IA, Sarah (Jamison) Holthaus of Macomb, IL, Matthew (Renae) Armentrout of Solon, IA, and Laura (Josh) Larson of Denver, IA; thirteen grandchildren, Nicholas, Alex, Makenzie and Macey Marovets; Leighton, Ainsley, Braden and Aubrey Holthaus; Quinn and Bryce Armentrout, and Brynnley, Blaire and Blaine Larson and her brother, Dennis (Pam) LaRoque..
