Arlene Langreck, Hawkeye, Iowa, July 3, 2023

Arlene Frances Langreck, 85 of Hawkeye, Iowa died Monday, July 3, 2023 at Maple Crest Manor, Fayette, Iowa. She was born September 1, 1937 to Paul and Agnes (Wieling) Schaufenbuel in rural Waucoma, Iowa. The family later moved to a farm in the Lawler, Iowa area and she graduated from Lawler High School, Lawler, Iowa in 1955.

Arlene was united in marriage with Herbert Langreck on April 21, 1958 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Lawler. Five children were born to this union. She was a farm wife and a CNA at the New Hampton Hospital, New Hampton. Arlene belonged to the Holy Name Catholic Church of West Union and St. Francis Xavier of Hawkeye where she was a very active member and she also taught religion classes. She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, being a Cub’s fan, playing the accordion and playing cards. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Arlene is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, Herbert Langreck; four children, Dale (Gwyn) Langreck of Waucoma, Alan (Kathy) Langreck of Fayette, Carol Ann Langreck of Hawkeye and Debra (Kim) Weidemann of West Union; five grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Langreck, Austin Langreck, Dylan Langreck, Nicole (Greg) Kuennen and Nathan (Karlee) Weidemann; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joann Brincks of Plymouth; brothers-in-law, Edwin (Helen) Langreck of Ft. Atkinson, Anthony (LuAnn) Langreck of Ossian, David (Mary) Langreck of West Union and Duane (Kathy) Langreck of Hawkeye and several nieces and nephews.

Arlene was preceded in death by her son, Randy and her parents, Paul and Agnes Schaufenbuel.

Visitation will be Friday, July 7, 2023 from 4-7 pm with a 3:45 pm Rosary at Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, West Union, Iowa with a visitation one hour before Mass at the church on Saturday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Holy Name Catholic Church, West Union, Iowa with Rev. Ralph Davis as the Celebrant.

Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, West Union, Iowa.
