Dorothy Ann Jennings, Farmersburg, Iowa, August 13, 2023

Dorothy Ann Jennings, 83 of Farmersburg, Iowa passed away on Sunday August 13, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa after a short illness. She was born September 22, 1939 at home in rural Elkader, Iowa, the oldest of two girls born to Ervin and Mildred (Meyer) Taake. Dorothy attended rural school in Clayton Center until it closed and then attended and graduated from Garnavillo High School in 1958. After graduation she attended Bayless Business College in Dubuque, Iowa and then worked for a Law Firm there and later at Interstate Power (now Alliant Energy) in Elkader, she also worked for Elkader Statistical and last at Peoples State Bank (now Freedom Bank) in Farmersburg from 1979 until her retirement in 2008.

Dorothy was united in marriage with Gerald Jennings on January 7, 1961 after meeting on a blind date nine months earlier. They were married at Zion Lutheran Church in Clayton Center, Iowa where she was previously baptized and confirmed. Two daughters were born to this union, Julie in 1973 and Jill in 1980.

Dorothy loved her family, her pets, and enjoyed her flowers and gardening. She also loved spending time at their trailer on Ambro Island near Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin for over fifty years. They enjoyed traveling and met many friends over the years.

Survivors include her daughter, Jill Jennings of New Orleans, LA; her precious pet, Bella; sister, Mary (Karl) Leete of Elkader; brother-in-law, Kenneth Jennings of Mt Vernon, Iowa; niece, Chris (Bob) Clark of Lisbon, Iowa; nephew, David (Krystyna) Jennings of Tarzanna, California and many cousins and friends.

Dorothy is reunited with her husband, Jerry Jennings (2022); her daughter, Julie (1976); parents, Ervin and Mildred Taake; in-laws, Lyle and Blanche Jennings; and many relatives, friends and beloved pets.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, Iowa with Vicar Jeremy Wolfe. There will be a visitation from 9:00 am to 11:00 am before services at the church on Saturday.

Interment will follow at Clayton Center Cemetery in Clayton, Iowa.
