Rodney Dale Guyer, Clermont, Iowa, September 26, 2023

Rodney Dale Guyer, 90 of Clermont, Iowa passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian, Iowa. Rodney was born March 5, 1933 to Aubrey C. and Mable (Christensen) Guyer East of West Union, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont, Iowa. Rodney graduated from West Union High School in 1952 and served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957.

On February 15, 1958, Rodney was united in marriage with Doris T. Knutsen. Four sons were born to this union. Rodney was a lifelong member of the West Clermont Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking and using his sawmill. Rodney made a lot of things for his children and grandchildren, mostly furniture. When asked how he was he would say. “I wouldn’t brag about it “. Rodney was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Surviving Rodney are his wife of sixty-five years, Doris Guyer of Clermont, Iowa; sons, Steven Guyer of Altoona, Iowa, David (Karen) Guyer of Dyersville, Iowa, Jordan (Patti) Guyer of Cresco, Iowa and Monte (Mary) Guyer of Clermont, Iowa; grandchildren, Skyler Guyer, Shaun (Hollie) Guyer, Lindsey (John) Kelly, Thomas Guyer, Chelsea (Craig) Ohloff, Zachary Guyer, Megan (Cody) Carolan, Noah Guyer, Mitch (Jenn) Guyer, Dustin (Sami) Guyer, Patrick (Jess) Thomsen, Alex (Brylie) Thomsen, Casey (Denise) Guyer, Keith Henkle, Tanner (Leslie) Guyer and Adelle (Johnny) Henkle; twelve great grandchildren; siblings, John (Ellen) Guyer, Kay Behnken, Wanita Pape, Becky (Bob) Keehner, Rachel (Gary) Woodson, Cindy (Dale) Bilden, Steve Drewes, Leslie (Vivian) Kleppe, and Marilyn Knutsen; and many nieces and nephews

Preceding Rodney in death are his parents, Aubrey and Mable Guyer; siblings, Sig and Patty Hoffland, Doug and Violet Guyer, Carl and Angie Andrews, Ethan Guyer, Arabella Kleppe, Olivia Drewes, Gary Guyer, Betty and Paul Benjegerdes, Al Behnken and Harry Pape; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Knut and Amanda Knutsen; daughters-in-law, Becky Guyer and Rhonda Guyer; granddaughter, Kylee Guyer; great-grandchildren, Braeden, Summer and Adaline Guyer; brothers-in-law, Kenny Knutsen and Walter Knutsen

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am with a visitation from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont, Iowa with Vicar Mike Erickson as the officiant.

Inurnment will follow at God’s Acre’s in Clermont, Iowa.
