Joan Hertrampf Welch, Monona, Iowa, October 24, 2023

Joan Hertrampf Welch, 88 of Monona, Iowa passed away Monday, October 24, 2023 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon, Iowa. She was born June 4, 1935 to Byron and Luva Streittmatter. She attended country school.

On June 4, 1952, Joan was united in marriage with Raymond Hertrampf. To this union seven children were born, Christina, Marlin, Julie, Linda, Raymond Joe, Laurie and Jerry. Together they raised the children and farmed in Clayton and Allamakee Counties until 1979 before moving to Monona. They celebrated twenty-eight years of marriage together until the passing of Raymond in 1980.

On May 30, 1986, Joan married Ralph Welch. To this union two families were joined.  Joan and Ralph enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Arizona. She also enjoyed putting puzzles together and spending time with angry cat Tabby. Joan had a great sense of humor, always told it like it was, she liked to dish it out and enjoyed lots of laughter.

Surviving Joan are her children, Christina (Kevin) Nuehring of Farmersburg, Iowa, Marlin Hertrampf of Postville, Iowa, Julie (Jim) Fuelling, Linda (Donald) Sawvell and Raymond Joe (Shelley) Hertrampf all of Monona, Iowa, Laurie (Elwin) Dirksen of Elgin, Iowa and Jerry Hertrampf of Waukon, Iowa; step-children, Wayne (Jodi) Welch, Kevin (Lori Trappe) Welch and Karen Moses all of Monona, Iowa, Curt (Vickie) Welch and Celeste (Richard) Turner all of McGregor, Iowa and Mary (Galen) Grovier of Elkader, Iowa; many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; two-sisters, Ella Starkey and Sharon Preuss.

Joan was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond Hertrampf and Ralph Welch; parents, Byron and Luva Streittmatter; sisters, Nileen and Eileen; step-brother, Lee Bergestrom; step-son, Larry Welch; Step-sons-in-law, Tom Moses, Rex Ewing and John Koresh.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the Monona Community Center in Monona, Iowa.

There will also be a private graveside service at Monona Cemetery in Monona, Iowa with Deacon Patrick Malanaphy as the Officiant.
