Ivadean Vernelda Doeppke, 90, of Elkader, passed away Monday, December 18, 2023 at her home in Elkader. She was born December 1, 1933, to Melvin and Mildred (Bunting) Ahrens. Ivadean graduated from Elkader High School with the Class of 1952.
She was united in marriage to Ralph Doeppke on April 21, 1953, at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader. Five children were born to this union. Ivadean enjoyed being a homemaker – baking, cooking, playing cards(bid euchre, rummy and pinochle were favorites) and Yahtzee. She especially loved spending time with her grandkids. Babysitting, gardening and canning were important to her. Ivadean was a long time member of Peace United Church of Christ.
Survivors include her children, Steve (Janita) Doeppke, Elkader, Linda (Jerry) Jaster, Elkader, Marsha (Ray Potts) Stangland, Cedar Rapids, Terry (Dixie) Doeppke, Luana, Randy Doeppke, Elkader; twelve grandchildren, William (Kari) Doeppke, Grant Doeppke, Shane Doeppke, Stacy (Derek Reisner) Jaster, Joe (Karinne Overton) Jaster, Tiffany (Fiancée Mark Frey) Minkler, Melissa (Ryan) Daugherty, Chris (Kristen) Doeppke, Riley (Fiancée Josie Kleinow) Doeppke, KayDean (Brett) Doeppke, Kory Doeppke, LeAnn (Dalton Beau) Doeppke; twenty three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Arlene Doeppke, Elkader, Lavon Meyers, Elkader, Ellen Banse, Walford; sister-in-law, Ivanelle Hoth, Elkader and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Ivadean was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Lorraine Ahrens; her husband Ralph on April 28, 1998; six brothers-in-law, Paul Doeppke, Ivan Doeppke, Harry Hoth, Lawrence “Lugi” Meyers, Tom Johanson, and Jack Banse; sister-in-law, Iona Doeppke; father and mother-in-law, Willam “Bill” and Hilda Doeppke and stepmother-in-law, Irene Doeppke.
Funeral Services: 11:00 AM on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader with Pastor Paula Anderson presiding.
Visitation will be held from 9AM until 11 AM on Friday, December 22, 2023, also at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader.
Inurnment will follow at East Side Cemetery, Elkader
