Arlene Velma Taylor, 86, of Clermont, Iowa passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. Arlene was born October 28, 1937 to Walter and Ester (Shafer) Schutte. After graduating from high school, Arlene continued her education at Upper Iowa and Iowa State Teachers College.
On July 12, 1959, Arlene was united in marriage with Sylvan Taylor at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. Two children were born to this union. Arlene worked as a teacher in the kindergarten and first grade transition class. She was a member of the East Clermont Lutheran Church, Hiawatha Hilltoppers Snowmobile Club, Tre Ore club, Northeast Iowa Tractor Club and Pleasant Valley Sports Club. Arlene was also a active member of the Clermont Business and Professional Women’s Club and Clermont Community Club.
Surviving Arlene are her children, Rick (Dina) Taylor of Clermont, Iowa and Lori (Jeff) Lehmann of Wadena, Iowa; six grandchildren, Shaun (Morgan) Lehmann, Sheena (Ricky) Kremer, Shantel (Mark) Lensing, Shelby (Kevin) Lapham, Erika (Garrett) Burrack and Jaylee Heller; 12 great-grandchildren, Audie, Bruin, Rocky Lehmann, Rose, Henry, Marie Lensing, Lily, Max Lapham, Adalynn, Olivia, Bennett and Emery Burrack; sister, Evelyn Tague; and one sister-in-law, Bonnie Haack.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ester Schutte; husband, Sylvan Taylor; great-grandchild, John Lensing; and brothers-in-law, Orlan “Swede” Tague and Donald Haack
NOTICE CHANGE OF DATE: Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm with a visitation from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at East Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont, Iowa with Rev. Ron Roberts as the officiant.
Inurnment will follow at East Clermont Lutheran Cemetery, Clermont, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials, the family would like donations to local animal shelters in honor of Arlene.
Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Clermont, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
