Joseph Emerson Rand, 85 of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Prairie Maison Nursing Home due to heart failure. Joe was born April 28, 1938 to Alfred and Edna (Emerson) Rand in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He graduated from high school in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin in 1956. During high school, Joe participated in football, basketball and baseball.
After graduating from high school, Joe enlisted in the United States Navy. He was stationed in Long Beach, California and made several trips to eastern Asia. Joe received an honorable discharge from the Navy and worked for several businesses in Prairie du Chien including Wolf Machine Shop, Huebach Chevrolet and 3M. He loved playing golf and softball following his time in the Navy. Joe enjoyed garden, especially growing tomatoes, which he shared with neighbors, friends and relatives. He also enjoyed deer hunting.
Joe is survived by his brother, Robert Rand and several relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Edna Rand.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am with a visitation from 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Monday, January 15, 2024 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Rev. Miranda Klosterboer and Rev. Hillary Burns-Kite will be the officiants.
Burial will take place at Utica Lutheran Cemetery, rural Mt Sterling, Wisconsin.
