Michelle Lee Hackley, 50 of Ottumwa, Iowa passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at her home.
Michelle was born March 26, 1974 to David and Guadalupe “Lucy” (Gallardo) Hackley in Sumner, Iowa. She graduated from North Fayette High School in 1992 and continued her education at Upper Iowa University graduating in 2001 with a double major in Human Services and Psychology.
On September 4, 2010, Michelle was united in marriage with Christina Jacobs in West Union, Iowa. Michelle worked at Wapello County Sheriff’s Office for twelve years before being employed as an Adult Rights Specialist at Milestones Area Agency on Aging in Ottumwa, Iowa. She enjoyed watching sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers. She was an avid animal lover, especially her dogs Rufus and LeRoy. She also enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time with her family, most of all her grandchildren.
Michelle will always be remembered for her huge, kind, and loving heart. Her love for life was shown in every act she did whether it was talking to a stranger and instantly making friends, or saving the tiniest animal God put on this Earth from harm. Her heart was huge, her soul was kind, and she will be deeply missed.
Surviving Michelle are her wife, Christina of Ottumwa, Iowa; daughter, Jena (Frankie) of Ottumwa, Iowa; three grandchildren, Brayden, Anessa and Millina; her mother, Lucy Hackley of West Union, Iowa; her siblings, David (Rhonda) Hackley Jr. of Gramercy, Louisiana, Glen (Kristina) Hackley of Huntington, Maryland, Elizabeth (Robert) Hartwig of Dunlap, Iowa, Dina (Rick) Taylor of Clermont, Iowa and Jaime Hackley of West Union, Iowa. Sister-in-law Kimberlee (Chris) Levine of Marshalltown, Iowa. Brother-in-laws Dustin (Amber) Jacobs of New Hampton, Iowa, Adam (Jamie) Jacobs of Independence, Iowa, Jeremee (Caitlyn) Jacobson Cannon Falls, Minnesota and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews and friends.
Preceding Michelle in death were her father, David Hackley; brother, Michael Hackley and her chocolate lab, Bo.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm with a visitation for 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at CrossFire Church in West Union, Iowa with Pastor Leslie White as the officiant.
Michelle chose to be an organ donor, and would have been proud to know how many lives she was able to change.
