Patricia Ann Green, age 93, of Rock Island, Illinois, formerly of Monona, Iowa passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Friendship Manor in Rock Island, Illinois.
Pat was born on July 22, 1930, in Monona, Iowa to Rueben and Hazel (Cook) Wirkler. She attended MFL schools until graduation. She then went on to Luther College in Decorah, Iowa before transferring to Iowa State Teachers College, where she met her husband, Donald Green. They married in June of 1951 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. To this union six children were born.
Don and Pat loved to travel and spend time with family. Pat especially enjoyed being a wife and mother, and later owning and operating Monona Dry Goods Store. Her hobbies included working on crossword puzzles, knitting, crocheting, watercolor and acrylic painting, gardening and was an avid reader.
Pat is survived by her children, MaryPat Wulff of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Elizabeth Green of Davenport, Iowa; Katherine (Jack) Hennen of St. Paul, Minnesota and Robert Green of Monona, Iowa. Also survived by her sister, Nancy (Ronald) Brandt of Waukon, Iowa and a son-in-law, Jeff Johnson of Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin. Pat is also survived by eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a niece and nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rueben and Hazel Wirkler; husband, Donald Green; daughter, Margaret Jasper; daughter, Susan Johnson; granddaughter, Jessica Hennen, and son in law, Dennis Jasper.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 500 West Center Street, Monona, Iowa 52159. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church the on Saturday.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at St. Paul Lutheran Church at 401 South Egbert Street, Monona, Iowa 52159 with Rev. Erika, Lenth as the officiant.
Burial will follow at Monona City Cemetery in Monona, Iowa.
